Since New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania is just a short walk from Broadway, our guests are always asking us how to get the best deals on Broadway tickets. Luckily, we’re here to help and have some suggestions for tourists to save money on tickets to the hottest shows.
Special “TKTS” booths offer tickets at discount rates all over the city. At a discounted rate of between 20 and 50%, these booths are your best way, as long as you don’t mind taking a chance on the availability of same-day tickets. Best of all, one booth is locating right by Hotel Pennsylvania in Times Square Center! But the tickets often go fast, so be ready to wait in line.
Many shows offer “standing room only” and rush tickets at a low, low price of $25-35 (although prices may vary). These can typically be purchased at the theater’s box office a few hours before the show begins. Be aware, though, that theaters can have varying rush ticket policies, such as only accepting cash, only making the tickets available to students or not offering them at all. It is advised to call the theater and ask their policy before you head on over.
Of course, if you want to make sure that you get tickets to your must-see show, buying your tickets in advance is the way to go. But even that doesn’t have to break the bank, try websites like Playbill.com or TDF.org to see if they offer any discounts. While the hottest shows often won’t offer them, you never know what you can find.
Whatever you do, don’t buy tickets from a scalper on the street. They are notorious for offering fake tickets to tourists.
Enjoy the show, and don’t forget to turn off your mobile devices!
